ABOUT

Storyteller

Hi, I'm Paul Laane. I call myself a Visual Author whose passion is creating stories. I specialize in Darkly Fantastic Realism and mainly work as an illustrator for board/card games and book covers. In the role of an illustrator, game designer, and graphic designer, I've been involved in nearly one hundred Board Game projects. I also write Psychological Dark Fantasy novels. I'm of the rare breed of authors who make their own images for their novels - when I get the vision, I feel compelled to experience my story visually.

Background

I've garnered a unique knowledge base with degrees from the fields of Business, Graphic Design, and Classical Art. I believe in the way of the Masters, in the power of constant learning, so I get up at 5am to train to get better. I've got all kinds of education under my belt, but my unique set of visual skills started developing at such schools as: Aristides Atelier, Repin Instititute, Watts Atelier, Schoolism. I've previously worked in the fields of Marketing, Design, and Illustration. I've successfully run my own firm for over 20 years.

If I appear theatrical and kooky on these pages, don't worry... (apparently) I'm a normal guy. I enjoy movies, books, good music, and walking in nature. I live in the dark, far north of Europe, on the coast of Finland with my wonderful wife and two children, in an old house we have named 'Honey Hill'. I hope you come here now and then to check out how my journey develops, or drop me a line if you have a project that I can help you accomplish.
